The Oil Sands Industry COVID-19 Response and Management Lessons Learned

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the oil sands industry has been aligned in its response, taking aggressive measures to reduce COVID-19 exposure within our communities and workforce. To support future coordinated response and management, the Oil Sands Community Alliance (OSCA) conducted a COVID-19 lessons learned session with our member companies. This report focuses on the key challenges and successes that were experienced from an industry perspective.

During our lessons learned discussion four themes were identified that include:
  • Industry’s collective COVID-19 response, management and knowledge sharing.
  • Supply Chain.
  • External and internal communication.
  • Engagement/Collaboration with AHS, other Government of Alberta (GoA) departments, municipalities and other stakeholders.

Through this report, our members share valuable learnings and identify opportunities on how the oil sands industry can work with other stakeholders on future response. Access the full COVID-19 Lessons Learned Report here.
